Open Faced Chili Burgers

1-1/2 pounds ground beef
1/2 cup chopped onion
1 (8-ounce) can tomato sauce (1 cup)
1 package taco seasoning mix
6 hamburger buns, toasted
2 tomatoes, sliced
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup shredded lettuce
1/2 cup green olives, chopped
1 onion, sliced
1-1/2 tablespoons sliced red chili peppers

Brown ground beef and chopped onion in a skillet, stirring to crumble; drain. Stir in tomato sauce and taco seasoning mix; simmer for 5 minutes.

Split and toast hamburger buns. Top with the meat mixture. Slice tomatoes and place on top of the meat mixture then sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.

Bake at 400°F (205°C) for 4 minutes, or until the cheese melts.

Top with shredded lettuce, chopped green olives, sliced onion, and sliced red chili peppers.

Makes 6 servings.
