1/3 cup sweet wine
1 pound California dried figs
15 to 20 walnut halves
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup granulated sugar
Pour wine over dried figs; let stand while preparing sauce.
Bring water and sugar to boil; simmer 10 minutes. Add wine and figs. Simmer, turning figs frequently, until well glazed.
Cool, split and stuff figs with walnuts. Can also be stuffed with pecans, cream cheese and crystal ginger.
Makes 15 to 20.
