Sweet Cherry Sauce

2 cups fresh cherries, pitted
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon peel
1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon

In a bowl thoroughly combine pitted cherries, warm water, sugar, grated lemon peel, and cinnamon; mix well. Refrigerate for 3 hours.

Makes about 2 cups sauce.
