Sherried Date Pudding

1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup Sherry wine
1-1/2 cups hot water
2 tablespoons butter

Combine in saucepan and bring to a boil. Simmer 3 minutes.

1 cup sugar
1 cup flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/3 cup butter
1 cup chopped dates
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup milk

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in butter. Mix in dates and nuts. Add milk and mix well. Spread evenly in a greased 9″ pan. Pour hot Sherry mixture on the top. Bake in 375 degree oven for 50 minutes. Serve warm and with whipped cream if desired.

Serves 8-10.
