15 ml vegetable oil 1 tbsp
375 g polish sausage, sliced 3/4 lb
1 L cabbage, chopped 4 cup
1 onion, thinly sliced
375 g potatoes, cubed 3/4 lb
50 ml milk, scalded 1/4 cup
15 ml butter 1 tbsp
salt & pepper to taste
In a large heavy skillet; heat oil over moderate heat and brown sausage. Add cabbage and onion; cook stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is browned. Add 1 1/2 cups (375 ml) water and simmer, covered partially, for 15 to 20 minutes or until the cabbage is tender.
While mixture is simmering, cook potatoes until tender. Transfer to a bowl and mash with a potato masher. Add milk, 3 tablespoons (45 ml) hot water, butter, salt and pepper to taste and stir potato mixture until butter is melted. Serve sausage mixture on mashed potatoes.
