1-1/2 gallon water, boiling
3 cups (1 lb) bacon, raw, chopped
4-1/2 tablespoon (3 oz) salt
1-1/2 teaspoon pepper, black
20 lb. rutabagas, sliced
Add bacon to water: simmer 30 minutes. Add salt, pepper, and rutabagas to water. Cover and simmer 25 to 45 minutes or until tender.
