Rice Pudding

1/2 cup rice
1/2 cup water
2 cups milk
4 eggs, divided
3/4 cup sugar, divided
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt

Cook rice and water according to package directions (no salt). Add milk and cook until thick. Separate eggs, putting all yolks together, 2 egg as together and remaining 2 egg whites together; beat egg yolks with 2 cups sugar, vanilla and salt. Add to rice. Beat 2 egg whites and add to mixture. Pour into baking dish. Beat 2 egg whites with 1/4 cup of sugar for meringue and brown.
