1/3 cup butter
1 cup sugar
3 eggs, beaten
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
3-1/2 cups bread flour, sifted
1/3 cup milk
In a large bowl cream together butter and sugar. Stir in beaten eggs. Sift together salt, baking powder, nutmeg and flour. Add flour mixture alternately with milk to butter mixture and blend thoroughly. Roll dough to 1/2-inch thickness. Cut into strips about 1 inch wide, 4 1/2-inches long. Twist 2 strips together, moisten inner sides at each with water and pinch to seal. Fry several Crullers at a time in oil preheated to 370 degrees. Remove when golden on both sides and drain on paper towels. Dust hot Cruller with confectioners sugar.
Yield: approximately 3 dozen.
