French Canadian Tourtiere Pie

500 g lean ground beef 1 lb
250 g lean ground pork 1/2 lb
1 onion, diced
1 clove garlic, minced
125 ml water 1/2 cup
2 ml salt 1/2 tsp
0.5 ml ground cloves 1/8 tsp
2 ml thyme 1/2 tsp
1 ml pepper 1/4 tsp
1 ml sage 1/4 tsp
1 double pie crust

Combine ground beef, pork, onion, garlic, water, salt, cloves, thyme, pepper and sage. Cook in saucepan over medium heat until mixture boils; stirring occasionally. Reduce heat and simmer until meat is cooked, approximately 5 minutes.

Place meat mixture in pie crust. Place top crust on top of pie and pinch edges to seal. Cut slits in top of pie crust so steam can escape. Cover edges of pie with strips of aluminum foil.

Bake in preheated 425 F (220 C) oven for 20 minutes. Remove foil and return to oven. Bake an additional 15 to 20 minutes until golden brown. Let cool for about 10 minutes before slicing.
