Easy Chocolate Syrup Brownies

1 cup butter or margarine
2 1/3 cups granulated sugar, divided
4 large eggs
1 (16-ounce) can or 1 1/2 cups chocolate syrup
1 1/8 cups all-purpose flour
6 tablespoons butter or margarine
6 tablespoons milk
3/4 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 375º F (175º C).

In a medium bowl combine 1 cup butter, 1 cup sugar, eggs, chocolate syrup, and flour.

Pour batter into a greased 13 x 9-inch pan.

Bake for 20 to 30 minutes. Frost when cool.

Frosting: In a small saucepan combine 6 tablespoons butter, 1 1/3 cups sugar, and milk. Boil for 1 minute. Stir in chocolate chips. Stirring constantly till chocolate chips are melted.

Makes 16 bars.
