Chicken or pork barbecue rub
1/3 cup kosher salt
1/3 cup brown sugar
2 tablespoons garlic powder
2 tablespoons paprika
1 tablespoon dried thyme
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
Mix ingredients thoroughly.
Store in a tight capped jar.
Apply liberally two hours before cooking.
