Barbecue Sauce

125 ml onion, finely chopped 1/2 cup
2 garlic cloves, minced
15 ml olive oil 1 tbsp
175 ml apple juice 3/4 cup
125 ml tomato paste 1/2 cup
50 ml vinegar 1/4 cup
30 ml brown sugar 2 tbsp
30 ml molasses 2 tbsp
15 ml paprika 1 tbsp
15 ml prepared horseradish 1 tbsp
15 ml worcestershire sauce 1 tbsp
5 ml salt 1 tsp
2 ml pepper 1/2 tsp

In a medium saucepan, cook onion and garlic in hot oil until onion is tender. Stir in apple juice, tomato paste, vinegar, brown sugar, molasses, paprika, horseradish, worcestershire sauce, salt and pepper. Bring to boiling. Reduce heat. Simmer, uncovered, about 30 minutes or until desired consistency, stirring occasionally.

To use, brush chicken, pork or beef with some of the sauce the last 10 minutes of grilling.
