CAKE
3 c. sifted cake flour
1 c. sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
3 teaspoon baking powder
60 count – 1/2 lb. wintergreen lozenges
1/2 c. Spry or Crisco
1/3 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
1-1/2 c. milk
ICING
2 egg whites
3/4 c. Spry or Crisco
3/4 lb. 10x sugar
CAKE
Soak lozenges in milk overnight in refrigerator. Sift all dry ingredients together; add Spry or Crisco and a little over half of the milk mixture. Beat for 2 minutes . Then add remaining milk mixture, eggs and vanilla. Beat for 2 minutes. Pour into two 9 inch round waxed paper-lined baking pans and bake for 30 to 35 minutes at 350 degrees.
ICING
Beat egg whites and Spry or Crisco until well blended. Add 1/2 the 10x sugar and blend well. Then add remaining 10x sugar and blend well.
