Orange Slice Cake

1 C. butter
1/2 lb. chopped dates or raisins
2 C. sugar
1/2 to 1 lb. chopped orange candy slices
4 Eggs
1 C. nuts
1 teaspoon soda
1 cup coconut
1/2 C. buttermilk
1 teaspoon grated orange rind
3-1/2 C. all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon almond extract

GLAZE
2 C. powdered sugar
1 teaspoon orange rind
1/2 C. orange juice

Cream butter and sugar; beat in eggs, one at a time. Dissolve soda in buttermilk and add to creamed mixture. Mix flour with dates or raisins, candy, rind, almond and vanilla extract. Mix well and pour into a greased tube pan. Bake at 250-300 degrees. Bake 2 hours or until done.

GLAZE
Combine all ingredients; mix well. Pour over hot cake.
