Mushroom Salisbury Steak

750 ml mushrooms, sliced 3 cup
500 g lean ground beef 1 lb
50 ml bread crumbs 1/4 cup
1 large egg 1
50 ml milk 1/4 cup
3 ml dried thyme leaves 3/4 tsp
40 ml ketchup 3 tbsp
10 ml canola oil 2 tsp
375 ml prepared beef gravy 1 1/2 cup

Take 1 cup (250 ml) of sliced mushrooms and finely chop.

In a medium bowl; add chopped mushrooms, beef, bread crumbs, egg, milk, thyme and 1 tablespoon (15 ml) ketchup. Mix well. Form mixture into 5 thick patties.

In a nonstick skillet; heat oil over medium-high heat. Add patties. Cook about 5 minutes, turning once, until browned.

Add remaining mushrooms, remainder of ketchup and gravy. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat to low. Cover, cook 5 to 10 minutes or until patties are no longer pink in centre.

Serves 5
