Jalapeño Syrup

Makes about 1-1/3 cups

1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 large jalapeño, sliced
1/3 teaspoon kosher salt

In a medium saucepan, bring sugar, 1 cup water, jalapeño, and salt to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves, about 5 minutes. Remove from heat; let cool completely. Discard jalapeño. Store syrup in an airtight container until ready to use.>
