7 lb. sliced green tomatoes (no ripeness)
2 gallons water
3 cups pickling lime
Syrup:
5 lb. sugar
3 pt. vinegar (1 qt. white, 1 pt. cider)
1 box pickling spices
1 teaspoon salt
Soak tomatoes for 24 hours in water and pickling lime, then change water every hour for 4 times. Rinse thoroughly each time. Boil syrup; pour over tomatoes and let stand overnight. Boil tomatoes in syrup for 45 minutes. Pack in sterilized jars.
