8 French bread slices, 1″ thick
4 eggs
1 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons Grand Marnier
2 tablespoons margarine
Arrange the bread in a 9×13″ casserole dish in a single layer. Combine the eggs, milk, vanilla, sugar, salt, and Grand Marnier in a medium bowl and beat with an electric mixer. Pour mixture over the bread and turn slices to soak evenly. Refrigerate up to 4 hours. Just before serving time, melt 1 tablespoon margarine in a large skillet over medium heat until the margarine is almost smoking. Add a few slices of bread, then reduce heat and cook on each side until golden. Repeat with remaining margarine and bread.
