1/2 cup butter
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup milk
2 cups fresh, frozen (thawed), or canned (drained) fruit

Preheat oven to 350*F (175*C).
Melt butter in a 9 inch deep-dish pie plate or a 9 x 9 x 2 inch baking dish in the oven. Remove and set aside.
In a small bowl mix together the flour, sugar and baking powder, add the milk and mix well. Spoon mixture over the melted butter in pie plate; set aside.
Bring the fruit and sugar in a small saucepan to a boil and remove from heat. Pour hot fruit over the dough mixture.
Bake for 30 minutes, or until golden brown.
Serve with vanilla ice cream or sweetened whipped cream.
