Choco-Nana Squares

1 cup butter, softened
1-1/2 cups granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 cup mashed ripe banana
1 cup milk
3 cups sifted all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1-1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate bits

Preheat oven to 350 deg. F. In a large bowl, cream together butter, sugar and eggs until light and fluffy. Add mashed bananas and milk, blend well. Blend in the flour, baking powder and baking soda. Set aside 1/4 cup of the chocolate chips. Add remaining chocolate chips to batter, blending well. Spoon batter into a greased and floured 13×9-inch baking pan. Sprinkle reserved chips evenly over batter. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes or until tester inserted in centre comes out clean. Remove pan from oven; cool on rack at least 1 hour. Cut into squares.
