Cheese and Mushroom Canapes

1/4 lb Mushrooms, sliced
1 tablespoon butter
8 ounces cream cheese
1 teaspoon onion, grated

Cook for a few minutes in 1 tablespoon butter.

Mix mushrooms with cream cheese and onion.

If desired, add salt and pepper. Add enough cream to soften. Cut small rounds of bread; butter one side of bread. Spread the mushroom mixture on the buttered bread rounds. Refrigerate or freeze. When ready to serve, place under broiler until puffy and brown.
