Brown Sugar Brownies

1/2 cup butter or margarine
2 cups firmly packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 cup chopped nuts

Preheat oven to 350*F.

Melt margarine and combine with brown sugar and eggs. Sift together flour and baking powder. Add to the sugar mixture with vanilla and chopped nuts; mix well.

Spread the mixture in a lightly greased baking pan. Bake for 20 minutes. Cool in the pan before cutting into squares.

Makes 18 bars.
