3 cups granulated sugar
1/2 pound butter, softened
1 cup vegetable shortening
5 large eggs
1 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 teaspoon rum flavoring
3 cups cake flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
In a bowl combine sugar, softened butter, and shortening. Add eggs, milk, vanilla, and rum flavoring. Sift together cake flour, baking powder, and salt. Add to the creamed mixture. Stir until thoroughly combined.
Pour into two 9-inch greased cake pans.
Bake at 350°F for 1 hour or until done.
