Chocolate Caramel Nut Bars

1 (10-ounce) package soft caramel candies
2/3 cup evaporated milk
1 (18.25-ounce) package German chocolate cake mix with pudding
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 1/2 cups nuts, chopped
3/4 cup chocolate chips

In a saucepan over low heat melt caramel candies with evaporated milk. Set aside.

In a bowl mix together german chocolate cake mix w/ pudding and melted butter. Press half the mixture into a greased 13 x 9-inch baking pan.

Bake at 350*F for 6 minutes.

Remove from oven and sprinkle 1 cup nuts and chocolate chips on top, followed by the caramel sauce. Top with the remaining cake mixture. Sprinkle 1/2 cup chopped nuts on top.

Bake an additional 20 minutes. Cool. Cut into bars.

Makes 36 bars.
