Sourdough Starter

1 package active dry yeast
1/2 cup lukewarm water
2 cups lukewarm water
2 cups flour
1 tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoon salt

In glass or crockery container, dissolve yeast in 1/2 cup lukewarm water. Add remaining ingredients and stir well with a wooden or plastic spoon until smooth. Cover with a towel and let stand for 3 to 5 days at room temperature. Stir 2 of 3 times daily. To store, cover and refrigerate. Feed 1 teaspoon of sugar once a week. Add same amount of flour mixed with water each time you use it.
