500 g beef liver 1 lb
125 ml flour 1/2 cup
15 ml oil 1 tbsp
30 ml butter 2 tbsp
1 onion, thinly sliced 1
15 ml brown sugar 1 tbsp
15 ml vinegar 1 tbsp
5 ml soy sauce 1 tsp
300 ml hot beef broth 1 1/4 cup
– corn starch 1tbsp
Dredge liver in flour. In a large skillet; heat oil and butter. Add liver and cook until almost cooked on both sides. Place liver in casserole dish and keep warm.
Add onions to skillet. Saute until translucent. Add brown sugar, vinegar, soy sauce and beef broth. Bring to a boil. Mix corn starch with bit of water and slowly blend into onion mixture. Cook for 2 minutes. Pour sauce over liver in casserole dish and bake in preheated 350 F (180 C) oven for 1 hour.
