1 head broccoli, cut into florets
1 head cauliflower, cut into florets
25 ml butter 2 tbsp
50 ml all purpose flour 3 tbsp
375 ml milk 1 1/2 cup
250 ml old cheddar cheese, shredded 1 cup
dash hot pepper sauce
1 ml each salt & pepper 1/4 tsp
dash paprika
In pot of boiling water; cook broccoli for 2 to 3 minutes or until tender-crisp. As well, cook cauliflower for 4 minutes or until tender-crisp. Drain.
Meanwhile in a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat; blend in flour and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk. Cook, stirring for 3 to 4 minutes or until thickened. Remove from heat; stir in cheddar cheese until melted. Add hot pepper sauce, salt and pepper.
Pour 1/3 of the sauce into 11 x 7 inch (2 L) greased baking dish. Layer cauliflower over sauce; pour another third of the sauce over top. Add broccoli and spoon remaining sauce over top. Sprinkle with paprika. Bake in 350 F (180 C) oven for about 30 minutes or until heated through.
