Whole Wheat Muffins 1

2 cups whole wheat flour
1/4 cup soft shortening
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
3 tablespoons sugar

Sift dry ingredients together. Cut in shortening. Beat milk and egg together. Add to dry mixture and stir only enough to mix. Do not beat. Fill greased muffin pans two-thirds full. Bake 25 minutes at 400 degrees F.

Makes 1 dozen muffins.
