PASTRY:
2 cups Crisco
2 cups boiling Water

Melt shortening in water. Stir until mostly melted.

Add 5-1/2 – 6 cups Flour
2 teaspoons Salt

Mix to form a very soft dough. Cover and chill until rest of recipe is accomplished.

NOTE:
You will need to make 2 batches of this unless you make 1/2 of the filling.

FILLING:
12 large Potatoes (about 6 #)
4 medium Rutabagas (or 1 large), grated
2 medium Onions
2 lb. ground Beef
2 lb. ground Pork (best if NOT sausage)
1 tablespoon Salt
2 teaspoons Pepper
2 teaspoons Garlic Powder
Grated Carrots
1/4 cup Butter

Mix with hands to blend. Divide the dough into 12 -15 pieces. Roll out each piece into a circle. Place 1-1/2 to 2 cups of filling on half of circle and a pat of butter. Fold dough over and seal edges. Place on cookie sheet. Cut slits in top to allow steam to escape. Bake at 350 for 1 hour or until brown.
