3 large eggs
3/4 cup sugar
1 cup dark corn syrup
3 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted
1/8 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups chopped pecans
1 unbaked (9-inch) pastry shell
Stir together eggs and sugar until blended. Stir in corn syrup and next 3 ingredients. Stir in chopped pecans. Pour mixture into pastry shell. Place pie on a baking sheet.
Bake at 400*F (205*C) on lower oven rack for 15 minutes. Reduce oven temperature to 325*F (160*C), and bake 40 to 45 minutes, shielding with aluminum foil to prevent excessive browning, if necessary.
Makes 1 (9-inch) pie.
