1 cup milk
1 tablespoon Butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup flour
1 egg
2 cups flour
11 peaches (or 15 plums), whole with pits
Bring milk, butter, and salt to a boil. Stir in 1/2 c. flour, mixing until it leaves sides of pan. Remove pan from burner. Add egg. Mix well. Add 1 c. flour and mix. Use remaining 1 c. flour for board. Turn dough out on board and knead until dough forms a ball. While keeping hands floured, tear off pieces of dough and wrap around fruit. Place dumplings into boiling water. When dumplings rise to top, boil for 20 min. (Plum dumplings cook in only 10 min.) Serve dumplings with sugar, sour cream, cottage cheese, or melted butter. Sprinkle with vanilla cookie crumbs.
