Green Beans and Hamburger

500 g lean ground beef 1 lb
1 medium onion, thinly sliced
1 garlic clove, minced
375 ml water 1 1/2 cup
40 ml soy sauce 3 tbsp
15 ml dark molasses 1 tbsp
1 package frozen cut beans (8 oz / 225 g)
40 ml cornstarch 3 tbsp
50 ml cold water 1/4 cup
1 L hot cooked rice or noodles 4 cup

In a large skillet, saute beef and onion until meat is brown and onion is tender. Stir in garlic, 1 1/2 cups (375 ml) water, soy sauce and molasses. Heat to boiling.

Add beans and heat to boiling. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered for 15 minutes.

In a small bowl, blend cornstarch and 1/4 cup (50 ml) water. Stir gradually into meat mixture. Cook, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir 1 minute. Serve over hot rice or noodles.
