1 can whole berry cranberry sauce (14 oz / 398 ml)
50 ml sugar 1/4 cup
50 ml red wine vinegar 1/4 cup
1/2 red onion, thinly sliced 1/2
2 garlic cloves, minced 2
30 ml fresh basil, minced 2 tbsp
5 ml oregano 1 tsp
1 french bread loaf

In a small saucepan; blend cranberry sauce, sugar, wine vinegar, onion, garlic, basil and oregano. Cook on medium heat, stirring occasionally, until onion is soft and sauce has thickened, about 30 minutes. Cool to room temperature.
Slice bread, brush both sides with oil. Broil each side for 1 to 2 minutes or until golden brown. Top each slice with cranberry mixture.
