Cheesed Up Onion Casserole

8 medium yellow or white onions, simmered in small amount of water
25 ml butter 2 tbsp
25 ml flour 2 tbsp
salt & pepper
300 ml milk 1 1/4 cup
375 ml cheddar cheese, grated 1 1/2 cup
3 slices bread, buttered & diced

Place cooked onions in buttered casserole dish. Melt butter in medium saucepan. Add flour and mix well. Add salt, pepper and milk; cook and stir over medium heat until mixture thickens. Add cheese and stir until cheese has melted. Pour over onions in casserole dish. Cover with bread cubes. Bake at 350 F (180 C) for 25 to 30 minutes or until bubbly.
