Cornish Pasties

PASTRY
500 ml all purpose flour 2 cup
250 ml potato, cooked & mashed 1 cup
5 ml salt 1 tsp
5 ml sugar 1 tsp
175 ml shortening 3/4 cup

MEAT MIXTURE
500 g ground beef 1 lb
2 large potatoes, diced 2
250 ml onion, finely chopped 1 cup
15 ml parsley, freshly chopped 1 tbsp
salt & pepper to taste
5 ml worcestershire sauce 1 tsp
1 ml hot pepper sauce 1/4 tsp

Preheat oven to 375 F (190 C). Combine flour, potato, salt, sugar and shortening. Blend with a pastry blender and form into a ball. Divide into two equal pieces and roll on a lightly floured board. Cut into 24 circles. Combine all other ingredients; mix well. Spoon about 1 tablespoon (15 ml) meat mixture on each circle of pastry; fold and crimp edges to seal the pasties. Bake for 45 minutes or until crust is browned. Serve hot or cold. Can also be reheated.
