2/3 cup solid vegetable shortening
2-1/4 cups packed dark brown sugar
3 eggs
2-3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2-1/2 teaspoons baking powder
l/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped pecans
1 package (6 ounces) chocolate chips
Preheat oven to 350′. Melt shortening and stir in brown sugar; cool slightly. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir together flour, baking powder, and salt, then add to sugar mixture. Stir in nuts and chocolate chips. Spread in greased 15-1/2 x 10-1/2 x l jelly roll pall. Bake 25 to 30 minutes. When almost cool, cut.
