1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup butter or margarine
1 cup sugar
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
3 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 1/4 cups chunky peanut butter
1 cup sifted powdered sugar
Microwave shortening and butter in a 2-quart microwave-safe bowl at HIGH 35 seconds. Stir until well blended. Stir in sugars until well blended. Add eggs and vanilla, stirring well.
Combine flour, cocoa, and salt. Stir into butter mixture until well blended. Spread batter into a lightly greased 13 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
Bake at 325*F (160*C) for 30 minutes.
Microwave chunky peanut butter in a microwave-safe bowl at MEDIUM (50% power) 2 minutes or until peanut butter melts, stirring after 1 minute. Stir in powdered sugar; spread over warm brownies.
