Pumpkin Date Nut Bread

1-1/2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon soda
1/4 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
1-1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
14 ounces bread flour (sifted)
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 eggs
1 cup canned pumpkin
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup nuts
1/2 cup dates

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease loaf pan. Sift dry ingredients together. In a separate bowl, mix together the oil, eggs, pumpkin and water. Add to dry ingredients. Beat until well-blended. Stir in nuts and dates. Bake 1-1/2 hours or until a toothpick commes out clean. Cool in pan before turning out to thoroughly cool.
