2 medium onions, chopped
90 ml vegetable oil 6 tbsp
1 kg cabbage, finely chopped 2 lb
125 g bacon 1/4 lb

3 medium potatoes
.5 ml salt 1 tsp
1 egg
625 ml flour 2 1/2 cup
Fry onions in vegetable oil until lightly browned. Add cabbage and cook slowly until tender, stirring frequently. Fry bacon, drain on paper towels and cut into small pieces. Save bacon fat. Grate potatoes, add salt, egg and enough flour to form a soft dough. Prepare pot of boiling water. Place small portion of dough on a plate, flatten slightly. Hold plate over boiling water; with a knife, cut off small pieces of dough and drop in the water. Haluski will rise to surface when cooked. Drain and place in serving dish. Add fried cabbage and onions, bacon and a little reserved bacon fat. Mix well and serve hot.
