3/4 cup sugar
1 stick butter or margarine
1 egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla
1-3/4 cup sifted self-rising flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
1/2 cup buttermilk
1 cup chopped, pitted dates
1 cup chopped candied cherries (combine red and green for a festive look)
1 cup flaked coconut
1 cup chopped Fresh Georgia Pecans
Heat oven to 350. Cream together sugar and butter. Add egg and vanilla. Beat until light and fluffy. Add flour, spices and buttermilk; mix thoroughly. Stir in fruit and pecans. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto greased cookie sheet. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes.
Makes 5 to 6 dozen cookies.
