Savoury Stuffed Mushrooms

20 medium size mushrooms
30 ml onion, finely chopped 2 tbsp
30 ml red pepper, finely chopped 2 tbsp
40 ml butter or margarine 3 tbsp
125 ml dry seasoned bread crumbs 1/2 cup
2 ml dried basil leaves 1/2 tsp

Remove stems from mushrooms; finely chop 1/4 cup stems. Discard remaining stems.

In skillet over medium heat, cook and stir chopped stems, onion and pepper in butter until tender. Remove from heat; stir in bread crumbs and basil.

Spoon crumb mixture loosely into mushroom caps; place on baking sheet. Bake in preheated 400 F (200 C) oven for 15 minutes or until hot.
